Stop Motion

Stop Motion with Geometric shapes with Dragon Frame Software

Working with abstract shapes like triangles, circles, rectangular. I was the first one to start with. I chose a rectangular, crumbled it in different sizes and transformed it to circle . we are asked to consider at least one of the principles of animation. I learnt about transformation and replacement and metamorphosis movements. capturing sequences by Dragon Frame software, using onion skin, camera adjustment, lighting, reversing frames, using loop and exporting.

Abstract Stop Motion with paper Replacement, Displacement, Metamorphosis

We were a group of 5, each of us has done a 5 min animation with any kind of paper. it should be 24 frames per second on twos. each group chose their own sounds from a choice of 4.

Reflection

I was using a large piece of paper but as we needed to connect our piece to the next person, I made my works smaller to transition smoothly. I learned how to work with dragon frame Software, add sound, export files. My effort was to learn replacement, displacement, metamorphosis style. This time I spend more time to consider animation principles, spacing, timing, eye trace, appealing, explore movements. For future I like to gather together all I have learn in this rotation like mix media and create something more appealing.

Review & feedback

After watching our animation in the class and getting feedbacks we realised that our team communication was poor and also learning a lot by seeing other groups works.

Practicing Transformation with Water Colour and Glycerin

Story Board

Story board of a fight in a restaurant

These 2 guys ( Mr White and Jessy) were supposed to see each other at the restaurant to discuss their business and money. to start with they were happy to see each other, but because of the tension between them, a physical fight started, eventually it all ended peacefully.

My story goes from A to A.

Reflection

I learnt about the story structure, how a story should start and what happens in the middle and end. About the climax, personality of character and all the changes that should be happening in the middle in his journey. I learnt about Principle of having a good composition by practicing perspective, depth, size, line, dutch angle, having clear silhouette, appealing, eye trace, contrast, 180 degree, different camera angle, eye view, worm view and many more. Generally how to have an interesting and dynamic story board.

All the options that is mentioned above and showing facial expression and characters was very challenging for me as I was doing it for the first time. I was working on that for weeks, did lots of research and looked at artists who are famouse in story boarding. I made many changes along the way, redraw some parts of the story again and again to get a better result. I even tried photoshop to move objects around to see how can I achieve a better composition in my scene and it worked well.

Review & feed back

After reviewing our work in the class I have got some feedbacks about having a better silhouette, I change some of my pieces which leads to even more interesting and dynamic one.

3 panel Story Board, Life drawing in Tate Modern

We did life drawing in Tats Modern, chose one of them and made a story with a beginning, middle and end.

In Tate Modern I showed my drawings to others and I noticed 2 of my friends liked this women then I decided to choose this one, it took 2 days for me to make up a story out of this single drawing. It was just 3 panels but Still having an interesting story board was difficult for me. which angle should I choose, how to show depth, perspective and etc. when I look back on Tate drawings, I think I can make lots of story from every single person. it was a very good practice overall, It changes my view somehow.

My story is: Balance Diet = Comfort Life.

An overweight woman who can not sit on the sofa properly and cross her leg, she gets rid of her fat by ejecting it from her body then she can sit with comfort and cross her leg with happiness.

Reflection

I Learnt make a small big. As one famous artist said” I don’t have an Idea, what I have is curiosity. I learnt that instead of waiting for an idea to come to me I can create an Idea. I learnt how to pay attention and observe more. I was really happy with the out come and realised that how easy I can create and make story with just looking and seeing.

Motion Graphics

(After Effect)

Moving a Soft ball from left to right.

Reflection

First time working with after effect, I learned about 2 principle of animation: squash and stretch.

The size of my ball appearing into the scene is not right. The number of drawings of the ball when it hits the ground and when it is in highest position its not correct and also I added ease for the whole movement which I will do it next time in a different way. I should have done more research before I started. Research about weight and its effect on movement.

Abstract face project(After Effect)

I

This is all starts with a mass of energy coming into the scene with sharp edges and fast movements contrasting calming sound of sea waves, in the middle different movement and colours appears with the sound of laughter and stay until yellow for happiness overtakes the scene with transformation of energy at the end.

Reflection

In this practice, I learned how to work with After Effect, working with different layers and their adjustments, Graph Editors, Eases, parenting, import images and manipulating them with different textures and effects. I learnt how to import sounds as well as exporting files.

Review & feedback

After reviewing my work in the class in a big screen I really wanted to change the sound, I added a laughing sound which was making me more nervous than happy.

my previous selected sound was even better which I did not use it, it was a funny sound. Next time I am going to start with some sketches rather than going on digital screen and do the work straight ahead.
